Sustainability

OPTIMIZING OUR SITES

All our sites across the globe work collaboratively to achieve annual reductions in energy, waste and water toward the objectives of carbon neutral and zero waste operations.

From 2006 to 2017, P&WC reduced absolute water consumption by 47%, GHG emissions by 15%, total industrial waste by 7%, and increased recycled waste from 59% to 67%.
TOWARD CARBON NEUTRAL AND ZERO WASTE
We are reducing greenhouse gas emissions using energy efficiency and working toward the inclusion of more sustainable energy sources. Our facilities continually upgrade equipment such as lighting, HVAC and process equipment with newer and more efficient technologies to reduce our energy footprint. Our waste reduction strategy is based on the foundation of the waste hierarchy - reduce first, then reuse, then recycle – striving toward keeping all materials in closed technical loops.

SHOWCASE: MIRABEL AEROSPACE CENTRE
Our Mirabel Aerospace Centre in Quebec is a state of the art modular assembly and test facility LEED Gold certified. The 300,000-square-foot (27,870-square-metre) facility was constructed from low-emitting construction materials that do not release significant pollutants into the indoor environment and provide for improved indoor air quality. The complex has energy efficient lighting and was constructed with a white roof for reduced heat island effect. It also features a passive solar wall that preheats the surrounding air and delivers it to the building’s heat-distribution system.
