P&WC: Cessna Signs Long Term Agreement With Altair
Avionics
ORLANDO, FLORIDA (NBAA 2003)--Altair Avionics Corporation and
Cessna Aircraft Company have entered into a 5-year Master
Agreement for Aircraft Data Acquisition Systems (ADAS+) and
integrated data management services for Cessna Aircraft
worldwide.
Selected initially for the Cessna 208 Caravan application, ADAS+
utilizes Altair Avionics' field-proven TrendCheck+ platform,
which is FAA, Transport Canada and Brazilian CTA certified for
PT6A applications. It automatically records aircraft and engine
parameters in flight, producing engine trend and exceedence data
that is compatible with Pratt & Whitney Canada's ECTM(R) (Engine
Condition Trend Monitoring) software being used by operators all
over the world.
According to Steve Charles, Cessna's Director of Product Support,
"The ADAS+ system improves the Caravan customer's ability to
trend and track engine condition automatically, especially when
complemented by Cessna's exclusive Internet-based data management
system (powered by TurbineTracker(TM)) and Pratt & Whitney
Canada-approved engine trend analysis."
The aircraft-mounted ADAS+ system records up to 32 channels of
data and provides operators with the ability to monitor overall
aircraft and engine health, as well as document any
out-of-parameter operations. The Caravan application will be
Type Certified as part of the production aircraft configuration,
with the first production aircraft equipped with the system
expected to enter service in January 2004. In addition, Cessna
has agreed to promote Altair Avionics' FAA Supplemental Type
Certification (STC) for installation of the system on those
Caravans already in service around the world.
Altair Avionics Corporation is headquartered in Norwood,
Massachusetts and provides Internet-based data management
services as well as design, manufacture, marketing and support of
aircraft and engine electronic monitoring systems for the
aviation industry aimed at "Reducing the Cost of Safe Flight."
