Pratt & Whitney Canada Earns ISO 14001 Certification

Pratt & Whitney Canada Earns ISO 14001 Certification

LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) is pleased
to announce that its Canadian facilities have obtained ISO 14001
certification, the international standard for environmental
management systems.

The multi-site certification was granted following in-depth
audits by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) of environmental
management systems developed and implemented at the company's
facilities in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario and Alberta. The
facilities, which employ about 7,000 people, encompass a wide
range of activities related to the design, development,
manufacture and after-sales support of gas turbine engines for
the aerospace industry.

"P&WC has world-class tools and methodologies in place to ensure
its operations meet the stringent environmental requirements of
our industry and offer a safe working environment for employees,"
said Alain M. Bellemare, President, P&WC. "ISO 14001
certification reflects our firm and ongoing commitment to our
employees, our customers and society at large to protect the
environment, today and for future generations. It also provides
us with a framework to further reinforce our current systems and
achieve continuous improvement."

Certification of P&WC's environmental management system was
achieved following more than two years of dedicated work by the
company's Environment, Health & Safety team and hundreds of
employees throughout the company. Their efforts included
identifying any aspect of processes and activities that could
have a significant impact on the environment and developing and
implementing appropriate measures to mitigate these impacts.

Pratt & Whitney Canada (SEA) PTE Ltd, P&WC's Service Centre
facility in Singapore, became the first operation within P&WC to
obtain ISO 14001 certification in 2001. Work is continuing to
obtain certification for the company's other facilities around
the world.

P&WC, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation
engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters.
The company also offers advanced engines for industrial
applications. P&WC's operations and service network span the
globe. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation
(NYSE:UTX), a high-technology company based in Hartford,
Connecticut.
