Pratt & Whitney Canada Continues its Christmas Tradition
of Assisting Underpriviledged People on the South Shore
LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--In order to provide assistance to
underpriviledged families on the South Shore of Montreal, Pratt &
Whitney Canada (P&WC) is continuing its Christmas tradition by
holding the 9th edition of its annual Christmas benefit concert.
With the success encountered in previous years, P&WC provides you
with the opportunity to attend one of the three performances
designed for lovers of classical music, dance and Christmas
caroling with the participation of 300 local artists.
These performances will be held in Pratt & Whitney Canada's Hall
of the Theatre de la Ville, in Longueuil, on Sunday, December 8
at 2 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. (Ticket counter: (450) 670-1616).
Another performance will take place on Wednesday, December 11 at
7:30 p.m. at the Centre Multifonctionnel of Boucherville (Ticket
counter: (450) 655-9596).
Le Noel d'Elodie ...a story for devotees of all ages!
As an opening act, a story inspired by the work of Diane Piche,
author of the libretto "Le Noel d'Elodie" and music composed by
Michel Masse, will be presented as a performance of 120 dancers
of the Dimension Arts Dance Company and students of the
Charles-Lemoyne Dance Faculty, who will be accompanied by seventy
musicians of the Laval-Laurentides Youth Symphony Orchestra under
the direction of Andre Gauthier.
The second part of the performance will allow us to remember the
joys of Christmas through favorite renditions performed by the
Harmonie de Longueuil Choir, composed of 63 singers, under the
direction of Paul Belzile and the Pratt & Whitney Canada Choir,
all accompanied by the Orchestra and its director Andre Gauthier.
The P&WC choir, which consists of 60 singers, all salaried or
retired employees of the company, as well as their spouses and
friends, is entering its 10th year. Michel Masse,
author-composer of several selections, a number of which were
composed for piano and orchestra, is the director since 1992.
A merry Christmas to the underpriviledged ...
As per Pratt & Whitney Canada's tradition, members of the
audience are invited to bring non-perishable food items to the
benefit concerts.
The boxes collected at the concerts will be given to "Operation
Christmas," a group of parishes and agencies in Longueuil, and
will be distributed for Christmas to numerous underpriviledged
families on the South Shore of Montreal. Last year 180 boxes of
food were distributed to more than 600 families.
P&WC, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation
engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters.
The company also offers advanced engines for industrial
applications. P&WC's operations and services network span the
globe. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation
