Pratt & Whitney Canada Finalist for E-Business
Leadership Award

LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) was among
three finalists for a Canadian E-Business Leadership Award in the
B2B Large category (Eastern Region) in recognition of its
achievement in establishing an industry leading eBusiness
Solutions Portal for suppliers and customers.

The award was among several presented as part of the Eastern
Canada E-Business Leadership Program during an Awards Gala held
at Toronto's King Edward Hotel on November 19.

"We are honoured to have been selected among the finalists in the
B2B Large category," said Amal Girgis, Chief Information Officer,
P&WC. "This reflects our ongoing efforts to leverage e-Business
to continuously improve communication throughout our supply chain
and meet the evolving needs of our customers."

Organized by E-Strategies International Inc. and sponsored by the
Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Industry Canada, the law firm of
Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and a number of leading high-technology
companies, the Canadian E-Business Leadership Program is designed
to promote the successful implementation of E-Business and
Internet Technology in Canada. It recognizes organizations that
have positively and significantly impacted their business with
the Internet and developed innovative web design and usability.

The two other finalists in the B2B Large category were Grand &
Toy and Mediagrif Interactive Technologies. Grand & Toy was
announced as recipient of the award during the Gala event.

P&WC is one of the first aircraft engine manufacturers to provide
suppliers and customers with a fully automated and customized
eBusiness Solutions Portal. The technology represents the latest
step in the company's strategy to leverage its total enterprise
SAP system by providing suppliers and customers with highly
user-friendly, self-service access to commercial transactions and
support information through a single door.

"Our portal essentially allows us to see the results of 35,000
online, or live, transactions per week that previously would have
required a very labour intensive effort on our part," said Ms.
Girgis. "For example, over 80% of our spare parts business is now
processed electronically. In addition, this B2B environment
provides both customers and suppliers with state of the art
self-service business tools anywhere in the world, 24 hours a
day, translating into significant benefits for everyone."

P&WC's eBusiness Solutions Portal enables suppliers and customers
to instantly connect with P&WC and gain real-time responses to a
wide variety of questions and/or transactions. "Suppliers can
now manage their entire business relationship with P&WC through
the portal," noted Ms. Girgis. "For example, they can process all
scheduling and delivery revisions live through the portal. They
can also use the portal to obtain prior authorization to ship
products in addition to selecting proper packaging transactions,
shipping instructions and the downloading of bar code labels for
each component."

The portal also has a feature that enables P&WC to send timely or
critical information to all or some of its customers, 24 hours a
day, anywhere in the world.

The E-business Leadership Award is only the latest recognition
received by P&WC for its achievements in e-business. Last year,
P&WC was selected for the National Post and Anderson's Next 21
program for e-Business projects, recognizing the business
achievements and successes of leading Canadian companies in the
New Economy. It was selected for the prestigious program based on
the online spare parts ordering and administration capability
implemented in January 1999.

P&WC, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation
engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters.
The company also offers advanced engines for industrial
applications. P&WC's operations and service network span the
globe. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation
(NYSE:UTX), a high-technology company based in Hartford,
Connecticut.
