Pratt & Whitney Canada Launches eBusiness Supplier
Portal
LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) has
developed an industry leading eBusiness Supplier Portal to share
information in real time with its suppliers.
"This portal enables suppliers to instantly connect with P&WC and
gain real-time responses to a wide range of questions and/or
transactions," said P&WC's Vice President Procurement and
Logistics, Mr. Danny Di Perna. "This e-business initiative
reflects our commitment to continuously improve communication
throughout our Supply Chain."
The fully customized portal provides registered suppliers with
the necessary functionality to allow seamless collaboration with
P&WC. It is also fully integrated with P&WC's back-end systems,
such as SAP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Documentum (document
management) and others, to provide instantaneous information
updates.
P&WC is one of the first aircraft engine manufacturers to provide
suppliers with such an advanced portal and functionality.
Benefits of the system include, amongst others, 36 month forecast
visibility; daily visibility of requirement schedule changes and
interactive promise date management capabilities.
"This high level of collaboration supports supplier capacity and
raw material planning, reduces inventory, and improves on-time
delivery," said Mr. Di Perna. "The final result is improved
delivery visibility for P&WC production and its customers, which
ultimately helps improve our response to customer requirements."
Other features are also available through P&WC's new eBusiness
Supplier Portal. They include transportation routing and
packaging instructions; supplier quality performance metrics as
well as training documentation and tools.
Several initiatives are currently in development to further
enhance the synchronization of P&WC's customer requirements with
its Supply Chain. "The objective is to further reduce costs and
inventory while providing added value throughout our Supply
Chain," said Mr. Di Perna.
P&WC, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation
engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters.
The company also offers advanced engines for industrial
applications. P&WC's operations and service network span the
globe. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation
(NYSE: UTX), a high-technology company based in Hartford,
Connecticut.
