Pratt & Whitney Canada Named One of Canada's Top 100
Employers
LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) has been
selected from among 5,000 companies and organizations as one of
Canada's Top 100 employers in a new business book officially
launched yesterday. Canada's Top 100 Employers, written by
best-selling career author Richard Yerema, cites the company's
forward-looking employee practices, comprehensive work-related
benefits and proactive involvement in the community.
P&WC is among just 12 employers in the Montreal area selected for
special recognition in the 2002 edition of Canada's Top 100
Employers. The book is described by publisher Mediacorp Canada
Inc. as "a catalogue of 'best practices' when it comes to creating
a wonderful workplace that allows employees to thrive and reach
their full potential." Last year's edition was named Canada's
best-selling business book of the year by The Globe and Mail.
"We are absolutely delighted to be recognized as one of the best
employers in the country," commented Alex Emile, P&WC's Vice
President, Human Resources. "We are very proud of the many
programs we have developed over the years to attract and retain
the best talent in our industry. And we will be continuing to
improve on these in the future to benefit our employees and the
communities in which we operate."
In his book, Mr. Yerema reviews a wide range of employee practices
and community involvement programs at P&WC which he says make the
company an outstanding employer. These include excellent work
facilities, extensive cultural, social and sports activities, and
a variety of two-way communication initiatives that keep employees
regularly informed about company developments and encourage
feedback. Mr. Yerema also singles out P&WC's comprehensive
employee benefits package, extensive training and development
programs, formal performance reviews and recognition programs.
Finally, he cites P&WC's generous support for a variety of social,
cultural, educational, health and environmental causes.
P&WC, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation
engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters.
The company also offers advanced engines for industrial
applications. P&WC's operations and service network span the
globe. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation
(NYSE: UTX), a high-technology company based in Hartford,
Connecticut.
