Pratt & Whitney Canada Opens Second Day Care
LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) yesterday
officially opened a second day care facility in Longueuil for its
employees' children.
The second day care, located on Adoncour Street next to the
company's first day care facility opened two years ago, can
accommodate up to 60 children whose parents are P&WC employees.
"This expansion reflects P&WC's firm commitment to create a
supportive workplace for employees, one that helps them better
manage their career and family responsibilities," said Gilles
Ouimet, P&WC's President and Chief Executive Officer. He attended
the official opening ceremony with members of P&WC's management
team, Medical Services and Plant Services, and other people
involved in the project.
P&WC's first day care centre currently accommodates 79 children.
It also manages a network of government subsidized child care
services in the surrounding communities, offering an additional 20
places for employees' children. With the opening of the new day
care, an additional 70 places are now available through the
network.
The day care facilities are operated by a non-profit organization
known as the Centre de la petite enfance Pratt and managed through
a board of directors. They are staffed by fully-trained educators
recognized by the government.
P&WC, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation
engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters.
The company also offers advanced engines for industrial
applications. P&WC's operations and service network span the
globe. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation
