Pratt & Whitney Canada Honoured for its E-Business
Initiatives
LONGUEUIL, QUEBEC--Pratt & Whitney Canada Corp. (P&WC) was
recently selected for the Next 21 program for e-business projects,
which recognizes the business achievements of leading Canadian
companies in the new economy.
P&WC was selected for the prestigious program based on its online
spare parts ordering and administration capability. This
initiative was implemented in January 1999 as part of the
company's e-business strategy designed to make P&WC a Benchmark
Digital Enterprise in the aerospace industry.
"With this innovative program, P&WC became the first aircraft
engine manufacturer to sell and manage spare parts on the Web,"
said Amal Girgis, Chief Information Officer, P&WC. "It is an
important part of our overall e-business strategy aimed at
developing e-solutions to reduce costs and inventory and improve
response times throughout the supply chain. Our selection as a
leader in the e-business evolution is testimony to the innovative
programs implemented at all levels of our organization to meet the
evolving needs of our customers."
This e-business tool, located on the company's extranet site,
gives customers the ability to enter orders directly into P&WC's
SAP integrated software system. It provides instant confirmation
of orders, delivery dates and status tracking. The system also
gives customers online access to P&WC's real-time configuration
control system to view the history of part number revisions.
P&WC, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation
engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters.
The company also offers advanced engines for industrial
applications. P&WC's operations and service network span the
globe. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation
(NYSE: UTX), a high-technology company based in Hartford,
Connecticut.
