Our Strategy

Innovation is the cornerstone of our business strategy. This has given P&WC a solid and enviable position in the global marketplace, leading and shaping the future of business, helicopter and regional aviation with proven technologies and dependable new generation engines.

From single-engine turboprop aircraft and very light jets (VLJs) to large, long-range business aircraft, P&WC has developed leading-edge technologies and expertise to delight customers in all its market segments.

The legendary PT6, the company’s flagship product, powerfully demonstrates the value and the dependability of the P&WC brand. The PT6 continues to be a market leader and its success is largely due to its versatility and reliability and operating economics.

Since the launch of the PT6 in the early 1960s, each successive model has incorporated the latest technology developments. Today, the PT6 family offers the best power-to-weight ratio of any turboprop in its class.

The groundbreaking PW600 engine is now powering a new generation of efficient, safe, and dependable VLJs which are expected to revolutionize air travel. VLJs allow passengers to travel point-to-point from any of 5,000+ secondary airports around the world instead of struggling through the big national or international airports. Moreover, the PW600 engine is light, fast, quiet and so small that it can fit into the trunk of a midsize car. It has half the parts of other turbofan jet engines and is correspondingly easier to maintain.

The PW300 engine is the greenest in its class and currently surpasses International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards for carbon monoxide and nitrous oxide emissions. It also meets Zurich 5 emissions requirements for no landing fee surcharges. This achievement is the result of its state-of-the-art TALON™2 combustion technology that reduces emissions while delivering outstanding performance and operating economics.

The newly launched PW800 engine will raise the bar on performance, economics and environmental responsiveness. It will surpass current ICAO standards by up to 35 per cent for carbon monoxide and by up to 50 per cent for nitrous oxide emissions, unburned hydrocarbons and smoke emissions. The new engine will also offer a step change in fuel burn compared with current leading engines and is designed for low noise, well below Stage IV standards.

Our future growth strategy also includes emerging markets such as Russia, China, and India. Thanks to the strong reputation and dependability of P&WC products and services, the links we have forged with key players in these countries are already bearing fruit.
