Kevin P. Smith joined Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) in 2006 as Vice President, Human Resources. He was then appointed Vice President, Human Resources & Communications, in 2015.
Prior to joining P&WC, with more than 20 years' experience in the fields of human resources and labour relations, Mr. Smith held various positions at Canada Post Corporation, Irving Oil Ltd., Avenor Inc., GATX Rail Canada, Air Canada and National Bank of Canada.
As Vice President, Human Resources, Mr. Smith plays a key role in driving our growth strategy and sustaining P&WC’s position as an employer of choice. More specifically, he fosters an inclusive, empowered and innovative work environment to increase organizational effectiveness. He is responsible to implement people and leadership programs to inject and develop the best talent to meet current and future needs.
In addition to his Human Resources role, Mr. Smith is responsible for developing dynamic communication strategies and driving the implementation of creative, innovative and proactive communication tools and programs that promote employee engagement, enhance customer responsiveness and government relationship, in order to strengthen P&WC’s competitive advantage.
He is champion of Aéro Montréal’s Human Resources Working Group and a member of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de la Rive-Sud. He has held various roles with several charitable organizations over the years, including executive sponsor for P&WC’s Centraide/United Way campaign in 2009.
Mr. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations and an honours degree in economics from McGill University in 1981.
